The gta Archives at ETH Zurich is Switzerland’s most renown architectural archive and one of the most important by international comparison. It holds unique collections of historical documents in the fields of architecture and architectural theory, engineering, design, local, regional and national planning, garden architecture and landscape architecture from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day.

The gta Research Portal allows not only for unified access to the gta Archives’ collections data and digitised visual research resources but also to research data from related research projects, such as “Experimental Design in the Post-War Period”. By allowing both human-interpretable and machine-processable access by way of the semantic web (based on Linked Open Data) and by consistently implementing scholarly acknowledged, yet open standards for data modelling and data exchange, the gta Research Portal provides unique and unprecedented access to these most valuable research resources to the international academic community for further research and re-use. By integrating the data into established research portals (such as the ETH Library Search Portal), the gta Archives’ holdings will also be made visible to a broader public outside ETH Zurich.
